Year of the New PC

Well I believe it may be the year for a new pc. I have started to price out some parts and it’s looking as though it might run a little pricey. However I think I will simply buy a part at a time and store it away for a final build. Generally I have found that buying a part or two each month allows me to build a nice pc without feeling the big hurt of the price tag. I think with the parts that I want to get I should be ready to tear open and build everything come February.

Parts List

  • Intel Core i7-860-newegg item#N82E16819115214
  • EVGA GTX 260 Superclocked Edition-newegg item#N82E16814130433
  • EVGA X58 Intel Motherboard-newegg item#N82E16813188046
  • Kingwin 600W Modular Power Supply-newegg item#N82E16817121012
  • G.Skill 6GB DDR2 1600 Ram-newegg item#N82E16820231225

Total cost of parts at the time of this post was $1,127.94. However generally with buying parts of the span of time you usually end up paying less as prices drop on hardware. The OS cost doesn’t look like it’ll be dropping much in the next few months to a year so you can get that off the list to start. Same is mostly true about the power supply. After that just work the way up from least expensive to most expensive.

Well there is my update for today. I’ll get on the rest of the crew to throw on a few posts as they have all been pretty neglectful as of late.
