WTF Sony… WTF?

So apparently there is an issue which is affecting older (Big) models of the PS3. The problem is noted in more detail at http://blog.us.playstation.com. However the portion I have issue with is the following:

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

I mean. How do you just go out and tell the millions of owners who purchased a PS3 before the PS3Slim came around to just not use their systems. I find that a bit agitating. You fork over 200-400 dollars, you damn well expect to be able to use your system any day of the year you feel like. Of course you can turn your PS3 on and hope for the best but I don’t encourage it.

Just goes to show that it doesn’t seem to matter which gaming camp you go with, something is liable to go wrong. Guess I’ll hit up the Beatles Rockband on XB360 tonight when I’m not busy.

**A side question for anyone who might know. If you disable your internet all together then does this problem still occur? As I have a wired network this might be a simple and quick fix.
